For over 35 years, Stephen has helped clients pursue their dreams by helping them create and implement wealth creation and wealth preservation strategies. His primary focus now is on working with high net worth clients and business owners to help them create diversified, tax efficient portfolios and strategies to protect their assets. In addition, Stephen helps his clients implement generational wealth transfer strategies for leaving a lasting legacy to their loved ones.
Stephen earned his BBA degree in Trust and Wealth Management from Campbell University. He also earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation. Prior to joining Stratos, Stephen worked with other wealth management firms in various capacities, including as the Chief Investment Officer of a privately owned trust company. He worked in the Trust and Wealth Management groups of large banks prior to that, primarily with BB&T where he worked with high net worth clients and, last, in a management role as a Senior Vice President.
Stephen is active in many community and philanthropic endeavors. He serves on the Campbell University Foundation Board. Also at Campbell, he serves on the Presidential Board of Advisors and is a Past President of the National Alumni Association. In 2008, Stephen received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Campbell and, in 2015, the Campbell University Business School Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award.
Stephen is a board member and Past President of the New Hanover County Community Foundation. He is also a member of the Cape Fear Rotary Club and the Investors Roundtable of Wilmington. He and his family are active and volunteer in various capacities at Port City Community Church.
Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen and son, Chase, on various outdoor activities including boating, relaxing on the beach and attending sporting events and concerts. They also enjoy spending time target and skeet shooting at their Gun Club and roaming the woods and land at their Hunting Club.
