Alan attended the University of Mississippi where he received a B.B.A. in Managerial Finance. Upon graduation, he worked for the Mississippi Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. Alan was employed with State Farm Insurance Company for twelve years and then a Commercial Property & Casualty Account Executive for over seven years with Stewart Sneed Hewes, a division of BancorpSouth Insurance Services, Inc.

Alan is currently a member and former board member of both the Gulfport Yacht Club and Bayou Bluff Tennis Club, board member of The Revelers, former Board member of the American Red Cross Gulf Coast Chapter, member of the Order of Mithras, member of Gulfport Gridiron Club, member of Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce, member of the Century Club, and member of Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce. Alan resides in Biloxi, MS with his wife, Allison, and their three children.
